Without a could not have been so special without Ellerdine Lakes Fishery, it’s renowned as Shropshire’s premier fishery and it lived up to that name for sure. The lakes and surroundings are emaculate and the fishery is kept to the highest standard I have experienced, the scenery and wildlife is stunning which adds to the whole experience. The fishing itself was the best I have experienced with hard fighting rainbows and doubles being taken on the day. I know the lakes hold rainbows, browns and tigers all up to double figures, and that adds to the excitement knowing that the next pull on your line may be the fish of a lifetime. My second trip down this year saw the fish high in the water considering the somewhat coloured water. Heavy rainfall the night before saw the lake rise some inches and colour overnight, however the fish were still active and feeding. Through the earliest part of the day the fishing was tough, temperatures were still low and the fish quite stagnant for the time being. I managed to pick off some fish on my common single, weighted spider pattern. Simply dropping the fly in front of the fish and provoking a reaction. It may be done with lures if the fish are active, however this time the fish simply shy’d away. (ronsfishing.com)

If it’s the 1st time you have picked up a rod or you’re a professional fly fisherman John will be able to teach at any level. Beginners courses may be taught at close lakes like Ellerdine or for a really memorable day go with John to Lake Vyrnwy and fish from a ship on the lake. More experienced anglers can take benefit of the River Tanat running through our grounds which gives a average challenge. (bryntanat.co.uk)
CHRIS McAlister won the Troutmasters last at Grafham Water just as the new issue of Trout Fisherman was going to press. The Scotsman, representing Aberdeenshire s Raemoir Trout Fishery, was one of the few who managed to register catches in both bank and ship groups, after winds over the weekend before the last had coloured the Cambridgeshire reservoir s margins. After taking six fish. (gofishing.co.uk)
The match was fished on a point s base, so big fish weren’t so important; instead the idea was to find the most consistent youngster. Each competitor drew their peg and when the whistle sounded at 10. 00am, they were off with 30 minutes to attempt and catch the maximum of 5 fish per peg. Scoring was 2 points for the 1st fish on a peg, then 1 point for each extra fish. The 1st 10 minutes were slow, however then all of a sudden rods started to bend all around the lake, with some of the boys agreeing one another fish for fish. (exevalleyfishery.co.uk)
The match was fished to full c&r which adds a touch of early pressure as any tie on fish number will revert back to time of 1st caught fish. Davey Parker was the fastest off the mark landing a fish 2 minutes after the start. Trevor Wadds was next in line followed by Fred B. Then Glen Appleby. Only 4 out of the fifteen rods landed a fish on the 1st peg. No anglers caught on the second. The 3rd move saw Howard Croston & Simon Robinson both land two fish, Howard then went on to land a more two fish from his 4th peg putting him ahead at lunch. 15 anglers landed a total of 19 fish before lunch. With new production technology come new designs. Zone technology lets us to use a different material configuration in every part of a fly line. Imagine a line that has a super high floating tip zone, a supple stomach zone that throws loops that are very tight. A haul zone strategically placed that incorporates harder material with less compression making double hauling effortless and extreme durability in a high wear area. And a somewhat harder but friction free running line zone to make shooting and managing line more economical. Also a colour change for fast zone reference. This future technology is available now on Airflo’s new super-DRI series of fly lines. (finallyfishing.blogspot.com)
