As you may be able to see some marshy regions on the south but no obvious submerged vegitation bothers some swimmers / waterskier's. Haven’t bee on Duck myself but if I recall, none of the rivers connecting this lake with others can handle more than a ship with a small outboard motor thinking 10-12' here with small cc engine . But with the narrow form, looks great for waterskiing. Marsh lands will take in the waves. (Find out this here)
Founded in 1999, Michigan-Sportsman. Com started as a group of links to Michigan related sites, and a series of manually edited blogs. It was a marriage of my passions for the outdoors and the internet. In late 1999 we started our 1st message board. After going through 3 different message board softwares, we settled on one in late 2000. Photo galleries, classifieds, product reviews were added in afterward years. It was a social network before the term was coined. Users have self organized get togethers and many have made long lived friendships with others who share the same interests in the outdoors through the site. (michigan-sportsman.com)
Michigan’s 4th-biggest 260 acres, Burt sees heavy fishing pressure throughout the summer months, however the fishing for walleyes, smallmouths and panfish remains good. Anglers will find consistent walleye action along the lake’s eastern shore between Dagwell and Cedar points in 10 to 40 feet of water. Most will average from 15 to 20 inches. The rocky substrate there attracts smallies, too. Both may be taken with jigs tipped with minnows or live bait on Lindy Rigs. The dropoff right off the state park is another good area for ‘eyes and bass. Perch and rock bass relate to the scattered weedbeds in the lake. (gameandfishmag.com)

We split Mark fishing one lake and Jerry and I another. We didn t catch lots of fish but the ones we caught were good ones. Jerry had a monster smoke his spinnerbait so hard we firstly thought it was a salmon since they’re running into the inland waters from Lake Michigan this time of year. He was using my 7-foot KVD Tour cranking rod and reel with 14-pound fluorocarbon and the fish almost took the rod out of his hands! though the drag was set firm, the fish zipped 20 yards off the spool in no time flat. The Interlochen State Park is one of the most usually visited parks in the state of Michigan. It gives a swimming area, and the only public ship ramps on the lake. in spite of the Park’s popularity, and our closeness to Traverse City, Duck Lake is wonderfully free of ship traffic during most of the season. There are quite some pontoon boats on the lake which you’ll see sedately cruising in the evening or rafted up in the shallows by the point on Sunday afternoons. There are some ski boats, jet skis, small sailboats, and a bunch of canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and others$. (blpducklake.com)
‘As for lures, you may be able to stick with conventional jerk baits, like Rapalas. I also like the Rattling Rogue. Cast it out and work it back to the ship in an erratic fashion. They will grab it. Another is the tube bait – those things with little tentacles. Make sure to get the special hook that goes with them 1/4 oz. Is a good size . Drop the tube bait, then crawl it gradually along the bottom to imitate a crawfish. For colors, attempt sand or black green. That’s a bait smallmouth really relate to. For top-water baits lures that skitter across the surface as you reel, for use in shallows, I like the Rattlin’ Chug Bug. (mynorth.com)
