The wife and I go to Chiang Mai fishing park lots.   it is on 50Baht for the day for fishing, they make a mean fried rice plate for only 30 Baht and its not a half day drive to get to.   there’s a nice snack and tackle shop there and lots of cold drinks.   They have Swai, Pacu, Tilapia and jungle perch.   At least that’s what we have caught there so far, so there may be more.  . You’ll do just good here with the standard thai technique of spring/coil feeder rigged so that the line slides through it freely, use part of bread as bait and breadcrumbs in the feeder, cast tight to the far bank and wait for the run with cold Chang. You may be able to purchase groundbait bread from the park, a big bag was around 50bht. Hookbait bread I bought from 7/11 just some white toast normal bread is a more moist than the stuff you get from the park so it is easier to put into the hook. Use guite heavy gear, I had only my light telescopic travel rod and the fish just owned me.
