I fished about 45 minutes, then had the great idea to run upriver in search of white bass.   As you may be able to tell by the glaring lack of white bass pics, I never did find them.   An interesting side note; as I was drifting back downstream and passed under the 13/48 bridge, I started seeing a big school of fish on my fish finder.   They were in 20-30 feet of water, suspended 2-10 feet off the bottom and I saw fish for at least 20 yards.   No idea what they were; I stopped and threw a jig, a redeye shad in case they were white bass a 10″ plastic worm, a chatterbait, and a deep-diving crank bait. I make a skipjack sandwich by scaling a foot-long skipjack, slicing off the fillets, and taking out the intestines. The entrails are sandwiched between the fillets on the top 4/0 Kahle hook. Big skipjack are unbeatable in spring and fall. At spawning time, you can not fish a bait that is too big — a big cow striper engulfs a 26-inch skipjack with no problem. . Well, it was all going on. You may think you have heard all the expletives related with such an event. Well, let me tell you, there were phases shouted that I m not sure were English. After a significant amount of time we landed this big belled pig. It weighed in at 60 pounds. At 1st we thought we had broken the record. Close, however no cigar. We did release this fish so it’ll continue to grow and we are certain there’s a new state or maybe a world record now swimming in these waters. After the recent rains ended, and the Cumberland River started to rise again, the owner of the Busy Bee Market, Cindy Hook decided she was taking no chances.
