Throughout the spring spawning period, use a trolling motor to move gradually and silently close to the shoreline. Flip a small 1/32 to 1/16 oz jig into the shallow water along the shore. Move gradually and hit every nook and cranny around rocks, woody debris and vegetation. Pea gravel banks are favored spawning places. Once you find crappie, stop and continue fishing that spot till the fish stop biting or they’re not large enough to match you. So we find the depth of the crappie and fish on or somewhat above that depth. A depth finder is a sure way of doing this. I nearly generally use this technique by knowing about the tempt I'm using. Knowing the weight size of my jig I know how far it’ll fall in the water every second. The 1st thing you will notice is that for the most part, every lake listed falls into just 1 or 2 basic groups. They’re either in the higher range with CPUE’s around 150, or they’re in the lower range with CPUE’s around 50. So what does this really mean? Species Found: Lake species include walleyes, LM Bass, Perch, Crappies and Catfish, however the real attraction here is the stretch of water that runs approx. 2 miles from the Dam to the Whitewater river that’s a trout fishery. Rainbows are stocked here in the Spring and Fall as part of the Indiana Trout Stocking Program. I fished Brookville Lake from the shore back in the 90’s. I did not have a ship so I was restricted to shore fishing. THE hot time of the year is May, right up on the dam. It is 800 yards of riprap with a road across the top, parking on each end. Although the walleyes are stocked first, the lake is deep enough 100’+ at the south end with enough rock on the dam, the walleyes started naturally reproducing. So the DNR closes the dam throughout April to harvest eggs from walleyes for their hatcheries. Come May, fishermen can get back on the dam and the bite differs like it does anywhere . My best catches and I have had few nice ones there come from throwing AC Shiners and shallow-running Shad Raps right down the bank along the shore. (bassresource.com)

The Middlefork Reservoir Park is a 405-acre building which hosts a 177 acre stream and spring-fed lake. The reservoir offers good largemouth bass fishing although some feel that the twice-weekly tournaments throughout the summer months have lowered the quality of the fishery. As indicated by DNR creel surveys, roughly 25 of fishermen on the lake are aiming at bass but luckily, 95 of the legal fish are released.
