The Cumberland hard by last year’s flood. After the recent rains ended, and the Cumberland River started to rise again, the owner of the Busy Bee Market, Cindy Hook decided she was taking no chances. So she removed all of the merchandise from the Market and moved to a secure place. Everything that may be moved was moved. Looking in the building, all you may be able to see left are empty coolers. I make a skipjack sandwich by scaling a foot-long skipjack, slicing off the fillets, and taking out the intestines. The entrails are sandwiched between the fillets on the top 4/0 Kahle hook. I leave the other hook lose. This sandwich mix twirls in the current and seems an injured baitfish and smells a heck of lots like one too. It s a big mouthful of bait, however a cat that can swallow your arm has no trouble with it. (gameandfishmag.com)

It is hard to fish the lakes around here from the shore. There are generally a ton of people in the spot you want to fish. Percy Priest is rocky and you get snagged real easy. Keep wading creeks and fishing small ponds. The only place I can think of at percy priest could be stewarts creek. TWRA built a dock and made it available for bank fishing. Another choice could be go to a TWRA WMA like Williamsport outside of columbia. There are 5 lakes to fish, plus you may be able to rent a jon ship for a couple bucks. (bassresource.com)
If one were on the north bank of the Cumberland River directly across from Cumberland City, Tennessee, it could take about an hour and 15 minutes with no traffic and some luck to make the 45 mile trip around to the other side, via either Dover or Clarksville, TN the distance is inside a mile, either way and the nearest bridges. The Cumberland City toll-ferry only 75 cents for local traffic all day, $1. 00 for all others surely fills an important niche for those traveling TN46 and TN233 3-31-2012 . (flickr.com)

The board discussed a winter sewer charge bound to help citizens out with bills in the winter. City recorder Sonya Clayton ran the numbers and it showed about 35 of the customers could benefit depending on what they used throughout the December thru April billing. It could cost the city over $900 per year to cap bills throughout the winter time as they do for swimming pools duringduring the summer. Mayor Gross said for now finding that near $1K in the budget is hard to do. Percy Warner, the bigger of the two parks, holds an broad network of hiking trails also as 10 miles of equestrian bridle paths. Horse fans can also appreciate the distinctive Steeplechase racecourse, which hosts the yearly Iroquois Steeplechase. Picnic shelters scattered during the park’s hills and hollows supply a bucolic setting for social events or family get-togethers. Two public golf courses Percy Warner and Harpeth Hills are inside the park grounds. A one-way paved loop runs through the park, allowing motor and bicycle traffic to access the park’s many amenities. The historic entrance at the end of Belle Meade Blvd leads directly to a set of remarkable stone steps called “The Allee” and serves as a nice jumping-off point for exploring the park’s rugged topography. If you use Gate 10 you may want to be able to take I think its called jordan road, 1st road on the right after the gate all the way to Hwy 120 which is around Bumpus Mills area. Just watch out for deer and turkey this time of year. Good fishing spot is Dyers Creek area the access road to that area is the next turn on the right, right after the entrance to Sunset Motor Inn on Hwy 79 going towards Dover. Just make sure to have your fishing license prepared they DO check! I can not now think of the name of the place but it starts with an L and they rent cabins and boats for I knew someone that took their kids one weekend out there. (campbellunderground.com)
