My husband and two sons ages 13 and 10 did the bottom fishing excursion throughout our day at Castaway Cay. They all caught a bunch of exotic looking fish — some colorful — some with great big eyes — and all good sized. They had to reel in the fish fast or the sand sharks could swim up to eat the fish and they’d snap the line. It was thrilling to attempt to get the fish reeled in before the shark got it and that added to the fun of the trip! They got soft drinks on the ship and they said the crew and the captain were useful. If you are interested in this, book it early because the boats can only hold a restricted number of people around 10 so this fills up fast. (tripadvisor.com)
By souvenirs, if you want something to remember your visit to Castaway Cay by, you are pretty much stuck purchasing something here at the common souvenir prices. These Castaway Cay logo things are only available on Castaway Cay, and can not be bought on the ship. We found the selection to be pretty good for Castaway Cay logo things, with some neat things and a good mix of classic and ‘trendy beach’ designs. The supplies are a different story. You may want to totally pack wisely so you do not have to buy things here. Things like sunscreen, disposable underwater cameras, and beach toys are all for sale here, and the prices are around triple what you may expect to pay for the same things in the real world. Below is how the Disney Cruise Line PR peeps responded to your questions. Since there are child bicycle seats, it sounds like you may be able to bring a baby on a bike ride, however 3 months can be too young for a bicycle seat. I did a little research and babies must be able to sit up on their own unattended to ride in bike seats. Your 3yo doesn’t must be in the kids club all day – you may be able to check him out or in as you, presuming there’s enough space for him to go to. Be aware that your 3yo should be completely potty trained to partake in the kids clubs, otherwise the nursery on board the ship could be a better choice for him since Disney kids club staff won’t change diapers nor will they remind your child to use the bathroom on a regular base I learned this the hard way when my son was almost 3yo and potty trained, however not so good at going to find a counselor/bathroom on his own – the nursery was a better fit for him . To summarize this page I’ll say this, there’s no question about it, Disney has by far the best Private island that I have ever been to. Everything is done with such precision and excellence, you really do not feel like you are in the average private island. It’s more of a feeling of a resort with all the adjustments that you come to expect from the Disney product. Unfortunately, the only problem is that to visit this magnificent paradise you must come on a Disney ship, and that comes with a nice price tag tied to it. But if the chance arrises and you may be able to make it there, don’t think about it and just book that cruise. (Click here for more)
Bottom line – I do recommend the fishing excursions, if they fit into your in general plan. The challenge, is that a fishing excursion is particularly vulnerable blowing up the best laid plans. Mother nature has her own plans. You re dealing with a wily critter in its natural environment, who does not care if or not you are having a good time. This isn’t a FastPass-enabled attraction, nor is it a fast service restaurant. While it s rare, you may not be rewarded for your effort. After that 6 hour wait, you may be pretty sure that you will sooner or later get your 90 seconds don t go there with Elsa. (disdads.com)

The youngest cruisers will enjoy this sandy play spot, a ‘hub’ of youth actions overseen by Disney counselors from the ship. Scuttle’s Cove now features a new whimsical water play area: a 1, 200-square-foot soft wet deck area gives new-water fun with an array of pop jets, geysers and bubblers. With organized actions and Monstro’s Point a giant whale-bone excavation site kids will be happy all day long. A restricted number of all-terrain wheelchairs may be acquired here. This area isn’t reserved for kids 9 and under, however this really is the age group you’ll see playing here with their parents. (amysamazingdisneyadventures.wordpress.com)
I head over to the Family Beach following the scenic footpath which takes me about eight minutes at a brisk rate or you may be able to wait for the Tram if you do not feel like walking. At the Family Beach, I pick up my float and tube rentals, which I get to keep for the complete day over at Flippers n Floats. You may be able to pre-pay for this ahead of time or on the spot using your room card. Castaway Cay is cash free and credit card free just like the ship, plus it is safer and easier to just use your room card. (Additional resources)
We greatly recommend parasailing with Tomiko "Miko" and crew. It is booked through Disney but if you are lucky enough to have him as your captain for the parasailing adventure you will be happy. He and his helper are organized and safety conscious. Our daughter 13 and I were 1st timers but they made sure things went smoothly. It was a great excursion although it’s quite costly for the amount of time you are in the air . I was so used to using my key-to-the-world card for info and payment that I only had a little cash on me to tip the crew. Next time I could certainly remember to bring more money ashore to Castaway Cay. (tripadvisor.in)
We just got off of the DisneyFantasy last week and the last couple of Disney cruises which we have been on we go around to everyone that has the fish extenders and put all different trinkets in their extender. We also put our name and room number on the trinkets and everyday we also got different things pins, stickers, little toys, candys, lollypops, lip gloss, all little thing also in our fish extenders. It was just so much fun just finding each one that also had extenders for my 2 four year olds and they loved when they went back to their rooms to see that someone put cute suprises in the extender.
