This is the hunt for the hunter who is looking for a special trophy wild boar with big tusks. Here on the flood plains of 100000 acres they breed them big. You will see hundreds of pigs each day particularly at the end of the season from August onwards. These pigs are managed and so its thrilling to look for the final big gold medal boar. Theres unbeliveable magpie geese in the region so you may be able to hunt these and your chef will cook them for you a real delicacy ! You may have to dodge some crocs on the hunt but that adds to the excitment. (havagoaustralia.com.au)
Major Divide Outfitters, for the average Australian, American, Canadian, European and New Zealander hunters, because I as an avid hunter wanting to hunt and travel find it costs a fortune to go for a hunt anywhere with trophy fees and unexpected or unexplained costs. Having personally guided in the United States for elk and mule deer, and being brought up in New Zealand with my father being a professional helicopter shooter and avid hunter has given me such a passion and understanding of hunting and wildlife in New Zealand and the Southern Alps that I wish to share it with many like- minded hunters. When Campbell 2012 state election with a very clear commitment not to overturn the ban on uranium mining, Areva were already were warming up their drill rigs. Uranium mining is a dirty game and we ve already seen serious contagion from leaks at Rio Tinto s Ranger mine in the Northern Territory. Given the amount of wet season flooding on the Mitchell River, there’s no doubt of direct risk to the Cape s rivers from any future uranium operation. (acfonline.org.au)
Barramundi will test both skill and tackle of experienced and novice anglers alike. If encountered casting, trolling or fly fishing, few fish get an anglers adrenalin going like the mighty “barra”. Barramundi are just about the perfect sport fish. A greatly violent and opportunistic hunter, they may be taken anywhere from picturesque lilly-fringed inland billabongs to river mouths and headlands. They thrive in both freshwater and saltwater environments, feeding on crustaceans, molluscs and smaller fish. The barramundi’s signature surface strike or “boof” is a sound that will be etched on your memory forever not talk about their magnificent aerial gyrations as they try to dislodge your tempt. Before Bo could get a chance to sniff us out a porker a decent sized boar came trotting of the flats and heading for the tree line right out in front of us. Not 500m from where we had launched the Barge, it does not get much better than this! Before I had a chance to call Bo on she was off in a flash and had the boar bailed up in no time, I pulled up close and released Dave as this happened the Boar broke from the bail and pushed out another 100m but Bo was hot up his behind and stopped him, by the time I got there Dave was all over the boar. Dave typically is pretty hard on the 1st boar he hits in the morning, particularly if he has not been hunted for some weeks. (hogsdogsquads.com.au)
The next morning Steve and I wanted to check out a swampy area at the head of a spring fed creek, pushing through the dry clean we sooner or later hit our mark on the GPS and the landscape changed into an oasis of lush green reeds, paperbarks and very clear spring water welling up from the ground. It looked like pig heaven and sure enough we had only been hunting a couple of minutes when I spotted a big black boar rooting around in the mud and reeds on my side of the creek. With soft ground underfoot I easily closed the gap to under 20m and when the boar turned and gave me a quartering away angle I took my chance. (sportingshootermag.com.au)
No-one should go on a trip without some form of map or reference manual. Those who stick to the bitumen can generally refer to signage, however on a trip to Cape York, the blacktop ends about four hours’ drive north of Cairns, which is where the guidebook, Cape York – An Adventurer’s Guide, written by Ron and Viv Moon really kicks in. I could recommend that people planning this trip read it from cover to cover before they leave home. Trip preparation is important when going into remote regions, where a lack of thought can be an costly mistake. (ssaa.org.au)
