Baits in . As the day progresses continue to fish the cabbage for action, however for big fish work the weed line with jerk baits. As fall temperatures drop deep diving crank baits are lethal when fishing the weed lines and off shore structure. The Largemouth bass was present in strong numbers during the area. Attempt casting in the wooded shorelines with spinner baits and plastics; fishing the slop with weedless spoons is a good tactic this time of year. (fishidy.com)
‘Muskies on Kentuck Lake feed heavily on crappies, so anglers have to follow crappie movements to stay on active muskies, ‘ Kruger said. Kentuck Lake warms fast and muskies are active by the season opener. For early season muskies, Krueger casts small spinners and 6-inch twitch baits in crappie or perch patterns over new weeds. As summer progresses, Krueger casts the 10- to 12-foot depths with Bull Dawgs and crankbaits with white and orange bellies. The hot bait last summer was the Storm Kickin’ Slab. Worked properly with a pull and stop retrieve, the bait suspends without dropping or falling, making it the ideal crappie imitation. (gameandfishmag.com)
There wasn’t place when we decided to fish near Crivitz, however we learned there was lots to this place when we got here. Marinette County Tourism Director Jamie Darge set us up with info and fishing alternatives and reservations for one night for Lori and me courtesy of Shaffer’s Park Resort. The resort is a starting point for outdoorsmen and women who come to hunt, fish, hike, bike, ship, golf, whitewater raft or relax. A highlight was eating at the Mrs. Shaffer’s restaurant renowned for its fried chicken and celebrating its 70th year. (onwisconsinoutdoors.com)
It should be a good fall for anglers chasing walleyes on Green Bay and its tributary rivers. There was excellent recruitment of walleyes in the past seven years with only the 2005 year class as a bust. Meaning there are lots of walleyes and lots of different sizes of walleyes out there. Especially strong is the 2003 year class; these walleye average around 23 inches. This was the common size of fish harvested in 2009 and continues to support a great fishery. But, 2008 and 2009 were also strong year classes when sampled last fall throughout our yearly electrofishing survey. Those 2008 fish will be at the end of their 3rd summer of growth and just short of, or becoming 15 inches this fall. (wgem.com)
The Lower Menominee River where the river enters the Bay of Green Bay is one of the few places where you may be able to catch both numbers of walleye and have a good chance of boating a trophy. Both the lower Menominee River and the Bay of Green Bay have one of the best walleye fisheries in the Midwest. Trolling is the favored technique for locating walleyes. When trolling, both live and fake baits are productive. Crawler harnesses, leeches and crank baits are all efficient. As far as color goes, use fire-tiger patterns on sunny days and minnow patterns on overcast days. Crank baits in a silver / blue pattern may be productive at any time. (therealnorth.com)
With over 130 miles of trails, the Iron Snow Shoe Snowmobile Club is one of the biggest snowmobile clubs in Wisconsin. Located in central Marinette County, our well groomed trails stretch from the Nicolet National Forest to Crivitz and include the Twin Bridges, High Falls Flowage, Caldron Falls Flowage, Silver Cliff, Thunder Mountain and bent Lake regions of northeastern Wisconsin. Trail conditions are updated some number of times weekly during the season and typically include photos of the local trails. (snowtracks.com)
Sounds good. My dad has a bunch of land up in that neck of the woods but I have only gotten the ship out there some times. My sister has a cabin on a lake outside of Lakewood that has some nice panfish, bass, northerns, and some walleye in it. Does not get much pressure as it is pretty much a private lake. Was going to attempt to get up there for some ice time this winter but does not appear it’ll happen. (hotspotoutdoors.com)
The High Falls radar runs and drag races are held at the Stephenson Town Landing just north of ship Landing #3 on High Falls Flowage. To get there from Crivitz, follow 141 north to Highway X in center Inlet. Turn Left on X and follow it across A, and all of the way to the gas station. At the gas station, turn right, and stay on X. Turn left onto ship Landing #3 Road and go south till you see the landing and all of the cars, trucks, and sleds. I love the seclusion of the tree-lined lot, while enjoying the benefits of being on the lake. In the mornings, I enjoy watching the sun rise over the lake and having a cup of coffee on the deck, in the gazebo or from the comfort of the sofa. In the summer I like to go swimming, waterskiing or boating all day, then get together around the campfire at night. In the winter I like to go snowmobiling, snow skiing or snowshoeing, then cozy up by the fireplace in the family room at night. In the close Village of Crivitz, there are cute shops and restaurants that I like to visit also. (vrbo.com)
