In Abby’s spare time, which is little, she enjoys hosting cooking events, where she’s had many Atlanta chefs: Virginia Willis, Rebecca Lang, Quito McKenna and Dew Belline from Float Café. These chefs come up to really put on the dog @ Blackhawk. By the way, I can not leave my dogs out of this. I have 3 British Labs: bit, Ham Beau, and Lizzie Dottie Lynch that we really adore. Woof! Woof! I also like to garden which I now have 3 raised beds for herbs and acres of Sunflowers which enhances wildlife and turkey population. This is the sign that greeted us as we walked up to Abby Jackson’s farm last Saturday. I can not begin to tell you all that she does, however included in her list of great things is watching over a fly fishing business with her husband, hosting big and small dinner parties, maintaining a farmer’s market, and canning lots of canning of veggies that are so good that you’ll want to carry home a case of everything. David Zelski caught the biggest fish of his life at Blackhawk and told me I had the world s best chili. So after thinking about his compliment, and the inspiration of some number of close friends, I took my chili recipe and made some changes and I established my own gourmet salsa line which is Abby J s Blackhawk Farm to Table Salsas. I launched the 1st flavor Bean and Jalapeno, in July 2011. Since last year I now have 4 flavors which are Bean and Jalapeno’, Black Bean & Herb Chipotle Peach ‘Chipotle Roasted Garlic and a brand new ‘Smokin Hot’ Gourmet Sauce. Abby Jackson is a woman of motivation and when she sets her mind to something, great things happen. The river that I’m referring to is the Soque River in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Habersham County, Georgia. The Soque is a tributary of the Chattahoochee River, with its highest point on Tray Mountain at 4, 300 feet. The water temperatures in the river are constantly kept cool, during the summer, ensuing in many holdover fish. The average fish on the Soque is around 4-12 lbs, with many bigger fish exceeding 30 inches. In many places on the river, these behemoth trout are stacked up for miles. (Check here)

Now you know what I’m discussing when I say do not miss out on the chance.   I have young kids now and this makes me realize how crucial it’s that I use up quality time with them and I can only imagine once they get a little older how important it’s that I get them out to explore nature and to enkindle that want in them to climb mountains or catch a trout because it’ll stick with them for a lifetime.   It has for sure in regard to my sister and I.   she’s now nearly a pro mountain bike racer and I continue to fly-fish and surf all across the globe.   Now the thought of bringing my own kids into these experiences is like re-living them all over again and better because I get to see their delight and enthusiasm. Hike this trail that’s less than a mile long and takes you to Panther Falls 1st, then continues up a steeper slope to Angel Falls. They’re both beautiful and well worth the hike. From US 76, take Charlie Mountain Road to Bridge Creek Road and turn right. At the dead end turn left onto Burton Dam/Seed Lake Road. Go some number of miles. You’ll see Lake Rabun signs on the right. On the left, look for a government looking sign that says it’s the entrance to Campground 2. Turn left into the campground, then stay right till you see a small parking area in the back. A small sign says Panther and Angel Falls where the trail starts. (theknot.com)
