A favorite spot of mine for a fast fishing trip is the Elora Gorge. The spot I favor is really outside of the conservation area and may be easily accessed from the parking lot just off the major street in Elora, by the bridge. If you park there and walk along the great River, you’ll find a trail that leads you by the falls the old mill dam and down into the gorge. This is the spot you’ll find people launching canoes and kayaks to take a run through the Gorge, however I go here to fish. At this spot, Irvine Creek runs into the great and there’s an excellent pool of brown trout. You may be able to easily fish from shore and get a good bite. (argosgirloutdoors.com)
The target species was crappie. One angler, but, kept catching perch. Unfortunately perch didn’t count towards the draw prize. He had a great sense of humor about it although. Towards the end of the derby, with the hot sun warming up the water, the crappies turned up and some anglers managed to catch a mess of fish with minutes left in the derby. Thanks to our great sponsors, there were many prizes to give out. It made for a great atmosphere. Some anglers who won many prizes showed great generosity of spirit by giving some away to the younger kids who weren’t so lucky. (realmenhamilton.tv)

Is a celebration of the city of Hamilton and the beauty of the season. The yearly event supports Hamilton residents to get out, connect with others and explore their communities. The fun continues for nine days with programming presented by cultural institutions, neighbourhood relations, recreation centres, and small businesses, showcasing Hamilton as a vibrant city with much to offer year-round. Winterfest hopes to inspire residents to explore and enjoy the city throughout a time frequently marked by hibernation, inactivity, and separation. (hamiltonartscouncil.ca)
With the changing season our thoughts turn to winter pursuits and what better way to brighten the mood than a dazzling array of brightly coloured figures and designs. Locally made in the classrooms and by the Hamilton Waterfront Trust, supported by community businesses and persons, this display carries on the tradition of the Hamilton Waterfront Trust s commitment to promoting Pier 8 for the benefit of all citizens. The Hamilton Waterfront Trust is a charitable organization with the mandate of connecting you to the water s edge. In keeping with our mandate, we have worked on one of the most distinctive tourist attractions in the City of Hamilton. (tourismhamilton.com)

Braden s Hot Chocolate Festival is an outdoor event held on Family Day intended to advertise environmental sustainability in the community and support the Hamilton Conservation Foundation. The idea for this winter festival was conceived in 2012 by a then nine year old Braden Marshall when he was trying to think of a way to increase money for Hamilton s Conservation regions. The festival promotes the year round beauty of the city s Conservation regions and the importance of enjoying time with family. (blog.hamiltonfoodtours.ca)
This is a Fishing tournament for amateur fishermen/women. We give away $500 every hour on the hour for 8 hours on both days. This is our second year for this tournament. Last year we brought in 339 anglers and this year we’re hoping to see 500. You’ll see fish coming in all the time all day long. But this isn’t just a tournament but it’s also a Fishing Festival for those who won’t be fishing it. Lots of games for kids, face painting and more. This is open to Canada and our friends in the US too note only Canadian residents can fish permit free . So come one and all big and little and have a great time at our 2nd yearly 1000 Islands Big Bass Challenge in the Heart of the 1000 Islands Gananoque. (kblog.jaey.ca)
