If it’s to the dam to go have a look at it yourself. With your 1st visit to the dam have a walk around the dam, if small enough, or at the side where you’re able or allowed to fish. Look for structures in the water where carp may be found. Make a sketch of the dam and make as many notes as possible. Big carp like to show themselves espesially in early mornings and late afternoon. Make a note of where you saw them. Talk to other anglers that are there and ask them about the dam and where they like to fish and where they have observed carp. They may not generally tell you exactly where to fish and where the best spots are but after talking to a couple of fisherman you may be able to start to form a general idiee where the carp may be. On the second set of bubbles, Koos carefully observed the bubbles to recognize where the origin of the bubbles are as this will point to to him where the carp s mouth is. As early as he identified the origin of the bubbles he silently dipped his leadhead on the origin and let it drop down to the bottom. He waited about 3 seconds before gradually but firmly lifting his rod tip to lift the tempt from the bottom. As he applied pressure to the line he felt resistance, he commenced lifting his rod and felt a heavy headshake before his line zipped away he was ON and it was only his second try for the day! This was Koos s 1st carp on bubbles al his last carp on tempt he’s caught on sight . (Check out here)

Some friends, Ettienne and Rudi, and I went to Meerhof at Hartebeespoort Dam on Sunday 3 June 2012. We arrived at the gates just before 6. 00am and was able to secure a nice spot nearly totally to the right of the venue. Started unpacking, however the cold did not make it simple and I only had my 1st rod in the water around 6. 35am. Made a blunder on the cast with the second rod and decided to warm up my hands with a warm cup of coffee and a rusk. Got both rods in and we were all eagarly awaiting for bites. It was not long when Rudi got a pull on kamoem mielies on a hair. But we suspect the fish were to small to get the bait in it is mouth. (clintangling.blogspot.com)
