Dennis lives fishing Bartletts Ferry for 30 years. For the past 10 years he’s run a pot tournament out of The Landings ramp on the 1st Tuesday of every month from April through the summer. He’s also on the bass-tournament trail. This year as co-angler he won the Bassmaster Series on Lake Martin and placed 4th the day before in the BFL on the same lake. He’s fishing both the Bulldog and the Dixie divisions of the BFL this year. The plans he uses at Bartletts Ferry are where he starts when tournament fishing a new lake. (gon.com)
Both Alabama and Georgia fishing licenses are recognized for all waters of Bartlett s Ferry Reservoir. The bass fishery is predominately largemouth bass but spotted bass are common, especially in regions of flowing water. Largemouth bass exhibit good growth and many fish reach big size because bass anglers harvest few fish. Crappie are made in good numbers and support a good fishery, particularly in the spring. Other species of angler interest are striped bass, white bass, shoal bass and channel catfish. Shoal bass are now protected from harvest in Alabama. Three public ship ramps and some number of marinas service the Alabama side of the lake. (outdooralabama.com)

The 1st stop on our west Georgia striped bass journey is Bartletts Ferry Lake, on the Chattahoochee River. Georgia Power Company operates this lake located in Harris County north of Columbus, and boating access is good, with some number of ramps from which to decide. Striped bass have been stocked in Bartletts Ferry since 1992 to help support the Gulf Coast striped bass recuperation in the Apalachicola River system. Striper anglers are now enjoying a quality fishery on this 5, 850-acre reservoir, with fish in the 25-pound range available, the average Bartletts Ferry striped bass weighs less than 25 pounds, however the fish are abundant and there’s good trophy possible. Mark L. Of Tucson: Thursday, Feb. 18: I went to Silverbell Lake 20 minutes before sunset hoping to get a couple of trout bites. I was fishing with Walmart marshmallows and 4-pound test on an super light 5-foot pole, when I got hit! I could see out about 20 feet that he was a big one and ‘mad. ‘ It took me about 5 minutes to reel him in, I attempted to get him in my net but he did not fit. Once I landed and got him home, he weighed 18 pounds and was 24 inches long. A nice prize for my long hours on the banks of Silverbell Lake. (fishazblog.com)
I’m to get paranoid about February tournaments at Bartletts Ferry. Two years ago Jordan fished with me and beat me like a drum then, too, winning the tournament with five keepers weighing about 13 pounds and had big fish. I had one keeper. Last year Javin English fished with me and had two fish for second place and I zeroed. And Jordan fished with me again this year. I hate to get beat from the back of my ship. (fishing-about.com)
Lanier anglers can expect another excellent year for striped bass. although stripers were exposed to poor oxygen conditions last summer, most recovered and are in great form. The abundant supply of blueback herring, a favored summer forage species by stripers, plays a key role in maintaining a healthy population in Lanier. Stripers made from successful stockings throughout 1998-2000 will range between 10-15 lb. This year and are projected to be a big contributor to the Lanier fishery. Numbers of trophy 20-30 lb. stripers also are rising. Both winter November-March and summer July-August months offer excellent striper fishing. (stripers247.com)

No such luck — at least there is no list of area commissioners. I did manage to find a list of regional directors for the DNR that shows the name of the director for each region numbered 1-14 . Unfortunately, there is no info that shows the geographical regions covered by those fourteen regions, so there is no way to know which director is accountable for my region. Plus, there’s no contact info provided for any of those directors, anyway. (carpanglersgroup.com)
