Ballast Point Fishing Pier In Tampa Fl

I've been to this park some times now and I like it lots. I had heard that there was a good fishing pier here, however for whatever reason I insisted on going alllllll the way to the skyway. No more! The same fish like the trout pictured and others are to be caught here, plus its free and lots closer. The pier is open 24 hours for fishing and is clean and well lit, however the bait shop has strange hours that don't work for majority of people who fish they don't open till 10 and they close at 8 or 9 . I greatly propose bringing your if you like live. I have also brought my 4 year old to play on the wet and dry playgrounds, and she loves it. (yelp.com)

: Ballast Point Park and Pier is in the calm neighborhood of Ballast Point in South Tampa. It features a great splash park for the kids, a big playground area, shade trees and picnic tables. One of the most remarkable features of the park is the view of the downtown skyline and Davis Islands. This is a great spot to attempt your hand at fishing. There’s a long pier that juts out into the Bay and a conveniently located bait shop. The bait shop will rent you all the fishing gear you need, however you must clean your fish. We recently a custom 8′ ship rod priced at $300. 00 to increase money for Scooter. Scooter is well recognized at the local bait & tackle stores and he used to supply them with baitfish. Scooter has now lost both feet and possibly his leg. He can not catch the baitfish, has no medical insurance and needs our help. Taste of Boston won the rod in a raffle at South Eastern Liquidators and we raffled it off again to increase more money for Scooter. After detaining Freeman for more than 70 minutes, police released him and returned his guns in envelopes with no ammunition, the lawsuit says. They issued him trespass warnings telling him not to come to Ballast Point Park for a year and not to go to other city parks and public property for 180 days. It’s a nice public park on Hillsborough Bay with fishing piers, a nice kids playground and I saw people jogging so there must be jogging trails. The views across the bay to downtown were great. I went with my camera and got some great photos of sea birds, fishermen and the pier. The sun rises here as it faces east. The bordering neighborhood itself is worth seeing with older beach homes on the bay side of the road and true mansions sprinkled about. Picturesque area completely. (facebook.com)

Another idea for windy days or just an easy trip, the Ballast Point Pier is a viable choice for that part of the bay. They have recently renovated the ship ramp and have food and live bait available right there. Monster sheepshead and many other species hang around the new pier. It’s an easy trip with kids, and if fishing is slow, there’s a nice playground close. All in all, it’s a nice city park. (tampabay.com)

The waterfront views overlooking downtown Tampa from this family friendly park are amazing!  The oak trees supply lots of shade for the picnic tables, grills, playgrounds, tot spot playground, and the all new splash park.   it’s FABULOUS!  Parking may be some a challenge when the weather is totally lovely but it is worth the effort.   there is a fishing pier, ship launch, restaurant, bait shop, and so more.   .
