Hooking the pull back on the rod and the fight is on. There’s a tension display and if the fish goes airborne or goes on a long run, players must make up for that by moving their rod therefore, in some circles called bowing to the fish. The danger is that if the gamer ignores the high line tension, it’ll snap. If there is too much slack, then the fish can spit the hook. Both are conditions anglers face in real life, too. If sight-casting to big pike, jigging and trolling for overgrown lake trout or drifting flies for grayling, there’s no place in the world quite like Great Slave. Here, the expectations of catching 30- to 40-pound lakers and pike are so high, 20-pounders elicit a mere yawn. This lake is cold, deep more than 600 metres and frozen eight months of the year—the ensuing frigid temperatures mean you don’t have to dredge the depths to hook a trophy. (outdoorcanada.ca)
Tion in those timeless American ideals of freedom, fairness, and self-sustainability. Today’s hunters and anglers bring this spirit to life in the forests and streams they visit. If not for America’s great hunters and anglers, like President Theodore Roosevelt and Aldo Leopold, our Nation could not enjoy sound game management; a system of ethical, science-established game laws; and an broad public lands estate on which to pursue the sports. On National Hunting and Fishing Day, we celebrate their donations to our natural environment and our national inheritance. (Additional resources)
The fly is attached to the line under a float. The slip-bobber became more well-liked in recent years and makes it easier to cast. The float-n-fly rig is typically used when the water is cold and the smallmouth bass are a little sluggish and deep. The float should be between 9 to 12 feet above the fly and worked super slow. The hair on the fly will pulsate with little current and pauses of 30 seconds or more aren’t unusual. A fast twitch with the rod tip after the pause is all that is required before another long pause. The strike frequently come just after the twitch but the pause is important to to get the smallmouth to commit to your presentation. (ramblingangler.com)

It does not stall when you stop your retrieve. Instead, it maintains its action as it falls. (mepps.com)
Striper boils stated last week were visited by more happy anglers this week. Stripers didn’t disappoint if the correct rules were followed. Stripers feed on their own schedule when in these bonus days of high shad numbers. The prime feeding time over the length of the lake was the last two hours of daylight. big feeding events were portrayed by lucky anglers as covering 20 surface acres, continuing for hours, full of big fish, and totally satisfying . Those that fished the big evening boils caught more big stripers than thought possible. The best places were Trachyte Canyon and Cha Canyon in the evening. (azgfd.net)

Fishing runs in the family for Chris. With his grandfather and uncles all being avid fishermen, it was inevitable that he could grow up involved in the sport. From years of fishing with his family, to the time spent at Camp Fish fishing with some of the biggest names in the business, to meeting Spence Petros at his fishing school and now spending time on the water with him, it was no surprise that he could excel at this sport. Chris is the owner/operator of T-Bone Guide Service, where he now spends 6-7 days a week on the water guiding and teaching people how to fish. (chicagosportsmenshow.com)
