The restrooms of our customers, if you were out on the pier fishing there are two restrooms available there and another one on the upper deck. We do require visitors to the upper deck to make a minimum $2 buy, however if you’re fishing on the pier, the upper deck is free. Our beers have generally been sold in 12 oz. Cans, like most places. We don’t carry bottled beer as we don’t want to give to broken glass in the ocean or the beach. A hidden 61st Street Fishing Pier invites visitors to cast their reels or rented ones out over the open water. From May 15th to Labor Day, surfing, use of kayaks and canoes, and all other non-motorized, hard bottomed watercraft is allowed only in the chosen Multi-Use regions inside 50 yards shoreline. In the wake of the storm, Texas City officials closed the dike to all public entry, and now began removing the mountains of debris that caked the breakwater. But after removing untold tons of wreckage, the dike remains, officials say, too dangerous to let people unlimited access. The road atop the dike and most of its shoulders are gone, and holes as deep as 10-12 feet pock the roadway and bordering regions. On the 91st Street Pier, previously a two-story structure similar to a house that expanded some 400 feet 120 m into the Gulf, three persons opted to ride the storm out, in spite of a National Weather Service warning direly predicting that they faced certain death from what was projected to be up to a 24-foot storm surge. Calling local emergency operators three hours ahead of Ike’s landfall, they requested evacuation by Coast Guard staff, as the complete length of the pier and the structure’s 1st story had by that time fallen into the Gulf. When you do get a bump, don’t set the hook now. Wait at least 10-15 secs. Pull on it lightly some times to tease them to swallow the tempt this also allows you to know how big a fish you may have on . If you lift it softly you may be able to really feel how heavy the fish is. Once I really coaxed a flounder entitlement to the bank just by gradually pulling him in without setting the hook. On occasion when I feel that I have a really good fish on that I can not swing up on the bank, I’ll free spool the reel and go get my net before setting the hook.
